Google Editions due in June
Google's e-books entry unlikely to lower prices
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Google Inc.'s entry into the electronic book market is not completely unexpected, as it has been scanning and sparring over digital rights over out-of-print books with publishers and authors for years.Google will open an online bookstore, Editions, in July.
But with Google now confirming it plans to join the e-book frenzy with Amazon.com Inc., Apple Inc. and others, via a new service this summer called Google Editions, one wonders what advantages will it really have versus its entrenched rivals. See Google news here.

Barnes and Noble Nook e-reader
Sarah Ruml has already given up on paper books. The Kindle is all she needs.“They're better than regular books,” Ruml, 38, said of e-readers like Amazon's Kindle. “They're lighter, and if you're trying to get under your covers to read, you can just use one hand. The page doesn't have that gutter (the space between the edge of the text and the page binding). You can read faster.”
Also: the bookstore is always open, and what you buy doesn't stack up in the house.
